Whimsical Wings

Well it is Saturday morning and I am so glad to have reached the weekend again. Why is it that the first week at work after a holiday always seems to be the toughest?

Unfortunately I have little energy for crafting this week but here is some thing I made during my time off - experimenting with my Spectrum Noir pens and a dotty background.

I don't know about you but, when I get out my CDs to print paper for a card I am making, I always get a bit carried away and end up printing a lot of papers of for future cards that i 'plan' to do, but either never get round to, or I forget was the 'plan' was in the first place. Well for this card I was determined to use up some of those left over papers. I didn't follow my usual pattern of finding the paper and then colouring to match….i just went ahead and coloured this first. So I was delighted to find not only some matching paper, but also a perfectly matching ribbon too.  :-)
I coloured the owls and made them a little bit whimsical….you don't often see owls with pink tummies! And check out the little caterpillars - aren't they cute?

So of course I would like to enter a few callings and here they are:

Beautiful Besties and a Pastel moment

My husband recently came home from work and asked me if I could make a card for one of his work colleagues to give to his niece. I didn't know anything about either of these people, so the only guidance that I had was that he had liked a card that I had recently made for my sister's birthday, using a Bestie image. Not much to go on, but, after dinner was out of the way I decided to crack on and try to get creative as the card was needed for the very next day.

Three and a half hours later (and at 11.30pm I might add!) this was the result. A sweet little bestie,, decoupaged in to 3 layers and coloured in pro marker, with a lilly bit of bling for good measure.
The colouring and cutting out took forever……especially post 10pm when I was becoming a little bleary eyed.  I kept the background fairly simple as I wanted the image to stand out.

Luckily the card was very well received. The only problem was that (and I didn't know this at the time) the guy was going to have to post it. It was an 8 x 8 card with some quite thick decoupage……he had to send it by special delivery….it must have cost him an arm and a leg! Oh well….at least he got the card for free :-).

Oh, and of course, the new card turned out nothing like the one I had made for my sister in the end…this is the one that I had made for her……

So now it just remains for me to enter a few of the lovely challenges that are out there this week:

Heartfelt Wishes

Well it has been a while since my last blog post as I have been away on holiday in beautiful Annecy, France. But now I am back in good old Blighty and have had a chance to catch up with blog land and see all the wonderful inspiration out there!

My card for today is using a gorgeous digi from Tiddly Inks which I made quite large so I could use it on an 8 x8 card. The papers were the first choice that I made and the image was then coloured in to match them.
One thing I love about Tiddly Inks characters is their lovely flowing hair, which gives me a chance to practice my colouring…..still some practice needed I think!!

Meanwhile, here are some challenges that I would like to enter:

Cute and Cuddly is the name of the day.

Well it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Little Fairies and this month's theme is 'Cute and Cuddly'. So take a look at this little chap from Lili of The Valley….I don't think you can get much more cute and cuddly than that!

As you will see from my card, I wanted to keep the focus on this simple little character - I just felt like he might get lost amongst patterned papers etc so I have gone for a very CAS card in icy colours to match his environment.

To top it off I have used one of the tag stamps, also from LOTV, which is super useful for all seasons, and mounted it with a little pearly sequin which I happened to find lurking in my stash.

So I have have gone with a cute Christmas theme for this card, but of course you can use any sort of cuteness you like on our challenge, and I am hoping that this theme will be a popular one so that I can enjoy a bit of 'oooh '  and 'aaaahhhh' time looking at all your creations.

Meanwhile there are a few other challenges that I would like to enter and here they are:
