Signs of Snow in March

Well the sun was shining and not a cloud in the at the weekend, but there were still signs of snow at my house, as I needed to make a Christmas card for my DT project, Fab n Funky have a new challenge today which is......Christmas!

We are lucky enough to have Bugaboo sponsoring us this week, and these happy little chaps are on of literally 'zillions' of images that you can find over on their website.

I am a big fan of snowmen, so this image was a no brainer for me, but I wanted to do something a little different so I wanted to stick with shades of blue to match my backing papers...apart from carrot noses and beaks of course.

I had printed out the image three times.....expecting disaster, but this seemed to come together really easily on the first attempt and it was really fun to do.

I finished off with some paper layering for the snowy ground, some punched snowflakes to create the arch, and a bit of glitter, plus some pearl paint (you just have to get the glitter and pearls out for Christmas!!)

Finally - this was originally intended to be a 6 by 6 card, but at the last minute I decided to emboss an 8 x 8 card and mount my image on to that, to make it a bit more special.

The observant among you will see that the embossing is actually flowers, but hopefully I have got  away with it!

Thanks for visiting me today, and I hope ypu will come and join us over at Fab n Funky this week.

Oh and last but not least….some other great challenges that I would like to enter:

Layering up with Angelica and Friends

Well if my resolution this year was to leave making of cards for special occasions to the last minute, I would be doing very well at keeping it - lol!

Last month I had young twins to make cards for (a  boy and a girl) and I have so much lovely stuff that would have suit them, that I just couldn't decide what to do. I kept changing my mind, and changing my mind, until finally I realised I was out of time, so, instead of doing a time consuming stamped image, I had to opt for decoupage instead.

So this card was for the little boy, and was taken from the Crafters Companion Angelica and Friends CD.

I picked the backing papers from a Card Companion sheet and printed it out a few times so I could layer it up properly. It even came with a greeting at the ready which was just perfect.

I then picked one of  the lovely decoupage sheets and the rest, as they say is history.

So finally, here are some of the challenges that I would now like to enter,

Guess what is creeping up on us?

Easter is coming…….and it always seems to catch me by surprise!

No doubt this year will not be any different, but I though I would take the opportunity to show one  of the cards I made last year….previously un-blogged!

As you can see this is some super sweet decoupage which I sized up on Serif and matched up with some  of my lovely NitWits digi papers. How cute is he in his little bunny suit?

This was so fun and relaxing to make and the addition of those little chicks was to complement the calorie free gift, which you can see in the picture below.
This was little chap was my first ever attempt at Amigurumi crochet….I was dead chuffed with him at the time, and I have to admit he still looks pretty cute now!

So - on to some lovely challenges  that I would like to enter, and here they are:

Fab N Funky Challenge - Focus on the Image

Well it's time for a new weekly challenge over at Fab N Funky and this time I am luckyenough to be hosting the challenge. I have chosen a theme of Focus on the Image so that everyone can go ahead and grab their favourite colouring medium and have a fine old time with their colouring.

This week we are sponsored by Art by Miran and the image that I have used is one from her very extensive range of digis.

You can find a direct link to this image right here.
I have coloured her in with my promarkers and teamed her up with some gorgeous papers from the NitWits Go Nuts digi set. I think she has a kind of Harvest Festival feel about her, but, if you pop over to the Fab n Funky blog you will see that Alison has given the very same image a very different look, plus there are lots of other colouring works of art too.

I hope that you will join our challenge and show us your colouring skills. I am really looking forward to seeing your lovely creations.

And before I go…..just a few other challenges that I would like to enter:

Ralph Fishing

Well it's that time of year when I she my dad's and my father in law's birthdays within a few days of each other, so I find myself thinking about men's card and looking for inspiration.

Luckily for me I saw this fabulous digi from Dig Stamp Boutique which I bought, printed and coloured all on the same day (unheard of for me - lol!)

The thin I like about this image is that it's quirky but not too cute so it fits perfectly for men, and still gives me my colouring happiness buzz!

For this card i used a 7 x 7 inch base card. I saw a pack of these a month or so ago, and bought them immediately, as you don't see them too often, ad I have to say, the size is just fab. You can get a decent size image on there and still have room to show off your papers, embellies or whatever as well.

I this case I grabbed the pro markers for the colouring and the papers are from a selection of NitWits sets. I thought the half circle print kind of looked like a fish head (but maybe that's just my over active imagination……).

I have used distress ink to dull the edges of the white card and used a bit of wink of stella sparkle on the fish for a little bit of a glimmer.

Finally, the lovely sentiment also came with the digital image…….makes a lovely change from the usual 'Happy Birthday'.

So here are the lovely challenges that I would like to enter today:

What I do in my spare time - AKA - how I avoid housework!

So it's another quick post from me - this time with something a little different. I taught myself how to do Amigurumi crochet las year, and decided to challenge myself to make some toys for the 'little' people in my life. I have notched up a few creatures now, so you may be seeing a few more posts like this, but here is the first 'big' project that I finished.

He's called a pillow pal and the idea is that he can be cuddled (or layer on!) in bed cos he's nice and flat like a pillow.

The pictures aren't too great as they were taken in the run up to Christmas when it was very dark, and he wouldn't fit on my windowsill which is where I normally take pictures of my cards!

I have to sa, I had a few scary moments with this guy, but, once he was done, it was very hard to part with him!

I am going to enter him in to a few challenges, but really I am just pleased to have him immortalised in blog land!!

E is for……..exceptionally enchanting elephant!

Well I was so busy crafting over the weekend that I had no time for blogging…..I guess you can't do it all, right?

I have so many cards to make this month, 5 birthdays, tow mothers day….not to mention Easter and DT stuff! So I thought I had better crack on this weekend and I am pleased to say I have made a dent but have not won the battle by any means!

Meanwhile, here's a card that I made a while ago, but neglected to post, using a gorgeous stamp from The Crafters Companion Rachelle Ann Miller range.

I was particularly taken with this little elephant for some reason and , in the end he was used for a Leaving card with a comment of 'We won't forget you!'.

As you can see, I have kept this really clean and simple and have followed the same colouring style as the artwork, which is adding lots of little white dots on the main character. I really like this effect as it's a little bit quirky I think!

I hope you like my very simple offering today, and here's a few challenges that I would like to enter:
